Research topics

Development of efficient artificial molecular systems capable of catalyzing CO2 electro(photo)assisted reduction in useful chemicals or in energy rich products

Our main research objectives aim to explore the potential of mono or polymetallic coordination complexes for efficient and selective electro-, photo-, and photoelectro-catalytic reduction (ECR, PCR and PECR respectively) of CO2 in homogeneous or heterogeneous phase. Indeed the development of such molecular catalysts for the transformation of CO2 (renewable carbon source) could give attractive alternative solutions for synthesizing useful chemicals and energy rich products (fuels) and then, while carbon recycling, could both reduce the CO2 environment impact and, at the same time, create valuable products which are not dependent on carbon fossil resources.
